Black Lives Matter 2020

This painting began with the marksman target and I wondered why it had to be black. With all of the protests about police brutality and injustice of murdering unarmed black people I wondered if this was the target the police used to practice. If so, then they have been practicing to shoot at a black silhouette or Black man or woman and now it is more of a sport than serve and protect.

So I placed a kneeling Black man in the center of this target in protest to the American flag remembering Colin Kaepernick, and around him are the protest marches that took place in solidarity around the world against police brutality and in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
