After watching the Hurricane Katrina disaster and the horrible human devastation that still continues, Marcella was compelled to voice her anguish through her art. In her painting she captures the emotions of helplessness and total surrender of the elderly, the anger and frustration of the Black man who is once again stripped of the power to protect his family and the tears and anguish of the Black woman for the hundreds of people who were abandoned and died unnecessarily.
